The creative and imaginative performer behind Imagination Unlimited Dance Academy is international actress, dancer and producer, Yarisha Rajcomar-Panday.
Born in South Africa, her love for dancing, performing and being on stage started from the early age of 5. Her passion for dance began from watching Bollywood movies and learning to dance like her favorite stars. This desire to learn dance at a young age led her to enroll in Bollywood, Folk and Kathak classes from very young.
Her first major stage performance was at 12 years old and it was at this time that she was determined to pursue a career in the arts. Yarisha gained experience from each show that she performed in, from small stages to international ones.
She studied Drama and Performance at College and further honed her skills in dance in India under the guidance of the acclaimed Saroj Khan’s team. Saroj Khan was a celebrated Indian choreographer in Bollywood behind hundreds of hits and known for working with renowned actresses such as Madhuri Dixit.
Yarisha has over 20 years experience including work in Film, TV, Stage, Theater and Fashion Weeks, for companies such as Sony Television, Disney, ZEE TV and more. Amongst many other accolades, her shining achievement was as the Choreographer, Judge and Mentor for the international kids dance reality television show on Sony Television, Boogie Woogie. Boogie Woogie, which debuted on the telly screen in 1996, was the creation of Bollywood actor Javed Jaffery, along with Naved, Jaffery, and Ravi Behl. They never believed it would be one of India’s most successful dance television shows. Boogie Woogie has been a lauchpad to many successful dancers. “Unlike other talent hunt shows, where the winners fade away into oblivion, our show has given many choreographers to showbiz,” says Javed with great pride.
The original dance show, Boogie Woogie, is only one of its kind, to hit Indian Television. The dance show has over the years entertained and enthralled viewers who are now addicted to this show. Over the years the Boogie Woogie show has become a platform to showcase talent across all backgrounds, age groups, genders and cities.
Celebrity star power, as guests on the show, prove the popularity and the interest generated over the years. Bollywood stars from Juhi Chawla , Esha Deol, Diya Mirza , Govinda, Vivek Oberoi, Malika Sherawat, Prabhudeva, Shefali Zariwala, Himesh Reshimmiyya, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Urmilla, Sonu Nigam, Mahima Choudray and Sunil Shetty, to name a few, have all been a part of this popular show.
